The Zimm Twins hosted their 1st Playdate on Good Friday. Our friends Jesse Ray and Noah came for lunch and play at the Zimm Twins 'play house' aka: Da's house, their Great-Grandmother. It was a good time for the Zimm Twins to show off all their new toys received at their 1st Birthday. Everyone enjoyed lunch and Noah even brought his Grandmother from England! Later in the afternoon, John & Ann Hightower came for a visit and play. It was a good day for the Zimm Twins, filled with good Friends.
Easter was exciting for the Zimm Twins. It was their 1st Easter & first time to meet the Easter Bunny. They were amazed by the Easter Bunny, but not scared of him at all. Easter was a bit wet outside for the twins, so the Easter Bunny placed the eggs in our Grandparents house (for cleaner findings!) Cousins Kyle & Kara helped the Zimm Twins find all 40 eggs the Bunny left.
On Thursday, April 16th, the Zimm Twins had their 1 year Doctor appointment with Dr. Raine. The appointment lasted a long time (3 hours) because Douglas couldn't breathe well. The doctor administered breathing treatments & a steroid to help Doug clear his lungs. Because of that, the Zimm Twins didn't receive their 1 year shots, but will go back this week to get them. 1 year Weight: Douglas, 22 pounds 4 oz. Kate 19 pounds 15 oz. Still the doctor is very pleased with their size and weight. As long as Doug's lungs clear, all will be well. The Zimm Twins are suppose to start eating more people food and less baby food. That won't be a problem, at least at lunch... Our Uncle feeds us lots of good things like, refried beans, french fries, cheese & ice cream; but he is very careful not to feed us peanuts (or any nuts) or honey.
Friday morning at the Zimm Twins playhouse, Doug started walking by himself!!!! Doug started at Da's refrigerator and would walk across the kitchen to the dishwasher. When Doug reached the dishwasher, he would drop to his knees and crawl back to the refrigerator. When he reached the refrigerator, he would stand and walk back to the dishwasher. Doug did this for about 15 minutes, back & forth, back & forth. It was real exciting to watch Doug take his first steps. In general, Doug still prefers crawling (he gets places a lot faster), but it won't be long, Doug will be just like Kate and walking everywhere... fast!!!!
And to end a very exciting week of activities, the Zimm Twins attended their 2nd Park Row Cowboy Cookout on Saturday. We were careful not to let Douglas out in too much damp air. Mom entered the salsa contest and won with Ms. Delorus' famous Green Salsa. While Doug enjoyed the music, Kate & her Granddaddy enjoyed watching Mom slide down the 100 ft. covered slide, then Kate met her first donkey at the petting area. The tree house at the Christmas Tree farm is really big and Kate was able to swing on a tree swing, while smelling the beautiful rows of Christmas trees growing.
Sunday was Trey Hillman day at the Ranger's Ballpark. This was the Zimm Twins 2nd Ranger game, but this time we were KC Royals fans. Trey is the manager of the KC Royals and the first celebrity the Zimm Twins met when they were born. Look back on the blog for April 2008! The Zimm Twins were the cutest kids at the game Sunday!
